CoHo has been involved since 2013 in supporting Chapeltown Cohousing realise their dream of an affordable cohousing scheme in the heart of their neighbourhood in Leeds.
The scheme comprises 29 homes including sub market rent and shared ownership, and a commonhouse. The project has been joinly procured with Unity Housing Association, who are developing 30 homes on the same site.
We have acted as project managers from inception, covering all client support aspects including viability and financial/ business planning; managing the professional team; dealing with site acquisition; overseeing planning; grant sourcing including accessing funding from Homes England; negotiating development loans through Ecology Building Society and Leeds City Council; oversight of the build process.
We have had a number of challenges, not lease contractor insolvency and site being badly affected by Covid shortages... but we are still confident of completing the project in early 2022.
